The meeting was of an Advisory nature
Under the chairmanship of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting of the Council of national security and defense Council (NSDC), which reviewed the national security Strategy of Ukraine “human Security – the security of the country”. About it reports RBC-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the President’s Office.
According to the President, the meeting has Advisory character.
“I heard that there are a lot of different comments. We have met now, we can discuss the Strategy after the Secretary of the NSDC present it”, – he said.
Zelensky invited all the participants of the meeting within a week to elaborate the draft Strategy and to submit proposals, and added that later there will be a meeting where will be approved the document.
In turn, the NSDC Secretary Alex Danilov reported that the draft of the national security Strategy of Ukraine was developed in accordance with article 26 of the law “On national security of Ukraine”. The basis of the document was based on the electoral program of the President, supported by the vast majority of the population. The preparation of the project involved the national Institute for strategic studies, state bodies, civil society institutions, as well as foreign experts.
Danilov noted that the key aspects of the Strategy are person, his life, health, honour, dignity, inviolability and security. The ultimate goal of its implementation – adoption of free, rich, safe country where the rule of law where everyone can realize their talents and abilities.
“The strategy will be the basis for development of other strategic planning documents in the areas of national security and defense, which will determine ways and means of their implementation,” he said.
In particular, we are talking about the strategy of human development, strategy, military security strategy, public safety and civil protection, the development strategy of the military-industrial complex, strategy, economic, environmental, information security, cyber security strategy, the national intelligence program, strategy on foreign policy security strategy on issues of national security, counterintelligence and counter-terrorism, etc
The priority directions of national security policy in the draft Strategy identifies ensuring the independence and state sovereignty, social development, primarily the development of human capital, protection of rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of citizens of Ukraine, European and Euro-Atlantic integration (the creation of necessary conditions for attaining full membership in EU and NATO), the restoration of territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine
The implementation of these priorities will be achieved through the restoration of peace and national sovereignty in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, implementation of complex international legal, political-diplomatic, security, humanitarian, and economic intervention “Crimea is Ukraine”. It is also proposed to take measures to reduce the likelihood of escalation of the conflict with Russia and the tension in bilateral relations.
