Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal told President Vladimir Zelensky on the first results of implementation of the program of stimulation of economy of Ukraine to overcome the effects of COVID-19, which gives grounds to expect a gradual recovery of economic development.
This was discussed during a meeting of the President with representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, the press service of the head of state.
“In today’s agenda the most acute, in my opinion, is the evaluation of the results of the government’s economic stimulus programs to overcome the effects of the pandemic. We need to revive the economy,” said Zelensky.
It is noted that the Prime Minister told about developed and government-approved three-year state program to stimulate the economy to overcome the negative effects caused by quarantine measures. He recalled that at the time of quarantine, the Ukrainian government adopted a package of decisions to support various sectors of the population, in particular on reducing the administrative requirements of doing business, deploying infrastructure projects, social protection of poor citizens.
Smigel noted that for the first time since independence in Ukraine is a large-scale construction of roads.
In addition, the government plans to approve the draft resolution providing for increase in amount of assistance for children under guardianship, from two to two and a half of living wage.
The Minister of Finance, Sergei Marchenko, said: despite the decline in business activity, there are clear signals of recovery from the crisis, as evidenced by the increase in revenues and funding from the state budget. In particular, in may, the state budget revenue plan is executed on 100%, in June – by 105,5%. It is emphasized that this happened in particular thanks to the efficient work of the State tax service. In addition, targets were performed in June by customs.
