The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky January 24, in Jerusalem, met with speaker of the Israeli Knesset Yuli-Yoel Edelstein. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian President.
The participants of the meeting expressed hope that the momentum of the bilateral political dialogue polarimetric elections in Israel. There was also marked growth of tourism after the introduction of a visa-free regime between the countries in 2010.
Zelensky emphasized the importance of ratification by the Knesset of the agreement on free trade zone between Ukraine and Israel, and reminded that the Verkhovna Rada ratified it in 2019.
“The introduction of a free trade zone can help double the trade turnover between the countries in the short term,” said Zelensky.
Zelensky 6 August 2019 signed the law on ratification of the agreement on free trade between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the government of the state of Israel. The document was signed January 21, 2019 in Jerusalem. 11 Jul 2019 ratified by the Verkhovna Rada.
The agreement will enter into force 60 days after the date of the last diplomatic note, which the parties notify each other that their internal legal procedures to be completed. The agreement does not apply to annexed Crimea and uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions until the complete cessation of armed aggression and restore the constitutional order in the occupied regions.
Since the entry into force of the agreement will be cancelled import duties for approximately 80% of Ukrainian industrial goods, also due to cancellation of about 70% import duties on Israeli industrial products will become possible high-tech investment goods, have informed in the Ministry of economic development and trade of Ukraine.
