commemorative ceremony at the arc de Triomphe


In Paris held a solemn ceremony dedicated to the centenary of the First world war. It was attended by about 70 heads of state, governments and international organizations, including the secretaries General of the UN and NATO, the presidents of the European Council and the European Commission.

A host of celebrations to mark the end of the great war of 1914-1918 was made by Emmanuel macron, the French President of the country on whose territory occurred the decisive battle of the First world, where early on the morning of 11 November was signed a ceasefire agreement, which meant a factual capitulation of the German Empire and the end of the war, and where later, an international conference defined the new world order after the military. He kept close to the Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel is underlining the full reconciliation and understanding between the powers, which from 1914 to 1918 fought against each other in an unprecedented scale of victims of war.

Among the notable guests of the ceremony were also the President of the United States Donald trump and the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

In his speech, the President macron urged not to forget the important lessons of the First world war: “we come back To the old demons again, ready to sow chaos and death. The latter-day ideology manipulated religions, preaching contagious obscurantism. The story threatens to go in a tragic way, squandered the inheritance of peaceful life, which we, seemingly, forever bonded by the blood of our ancestors. Long live peace between the peoples and States! Long live the free peoples of the world! Yes zdravstvuet friendship between the peoples! Long live France!”

At 11 a.m. Paris time heard a bell ringing. Participants of mourning ceremony have gathered at the arc de Triomphe, the tomb of the Unknown soldier, over which an Eternal fire.
